Memory Garden
Memory Garden is an interactive installation developed in TouchDesigner that explores the fragility of human recollection through real-time point-cloud particle systems projected onto a physical board. The piece invites visitors to erase nostalgic vignettes through gesture, transforming intangible memory into a physicalized, ephemeral act.
Developed collaboratively within the DIGICREA Master's program at Université Jean Monnet, my contribution spanned conceptual design, identity, and the TouchDesigner pipeline, focusing primarily on interaction design, spatial staging, and the physical artifact itself. I designed the installation furniture, crafted subtle on-boarding cues, and calibrated the sensor/camera placement alongside strategic lighting to ensure reliable hand tracking through a dense plastic diffusion layer. Additionally, I devised the narrative framing—presenting the piece as a speculative device reading neural data via a forehead interface—bridging the gap between the computational system and the participant's physical presence. For me, spatial interaction and tactile connection with the audience are just as vital as the technical and sonic architecture.
Project was developed as part of the Masters in DIGICREA at University of Jean Monnet, Saint-Etienne, by Dilnaz Gabdolla, Maja Zielinska, Bernarda Felicioni, Adrien Duez and Alexandra Grgic.
